HUAWEI XMAGE Awards 2024: Honoring Global Creativity Through Mobile Photography

The HUAWEI XMAGE Awards 2024 brought together global talent to celebrate the art of mobile photography, recognizing 66 extraordinary works from diverse perspectives. This prestigious competition has solidified its place as one of the most influential events in the industry, with over 650,000 entries from 86 countries. Among the winners, Middle Eastern and African photographers left an indelible mark, highlighting the region’s growing presence in the world of photography.

The global reach of mobile photography in storytelling

Egyptian photographer Sadek Khafagy’s “Islands of Stillness” captured the serene beauty of the Faroe Islands, showcasing nature’s tranquillity. Meanwhile, Joel Capillaire from Mauritius impressed with “Early Morning in the Mauritian Market”, a vivid portrayal of his homeland’s vibrant energy. These works, celebrated as Runner-Up Winners, emphasize the global reach of mobile photography in telling authentic stories.

Three major prizes

The competition also awarded three Grand Prizes to Chen Yong (China), Justin Mendoza (Philippines), and Kinga Choińska (Poland). Their images, ranging from imaginative depictions of childhood to whimsical compositions and heartwarming familial bonds, embody the depth and versatility of mobile photography. Judges praised their ability to evoke emotions and spark curiosity through the lens of HUAWEI smartphones.
