As social media feeds flood with AI-generated action figures and anime-style avatars, cybersecurity firm Kaspersky warns users not to ignore the digital risks behind the trend.
Users are uploading personal photos and information—like nicknames, jobs, hobbies, and family details—to AI tools that promise fun and shareable results. But these platforms may also collect sensitive data that can be exploited by cybercriminals.
Kaspersky highlights growing concerns:

A regional Kaspersky study reveals contradictions in user behavior:
- 47% cover their webcams for privacy
- 42% browse in incognito mode
- Yet 52% admit sharing personal details with unverified platforms to access games or quizzes
“Trends like AI Action Figures or Ghibli-style animations may look fun, but come with hidden costs,” says Brandon Muller, Kaspersky Technical Expert for the Middle East, Turkiye and Africa. “People unknowingly hand over the kind of information that scammers can use for identity fraud or targeted attacks.”
Kaspersky’s safety checklist:
- Read privacy policies – Know how your data is stored and shared
- Limit info sharing – Avoid uploading high-res selfies or personal data
- Use generic photos – Skip close-ups or use non-identifying images
- Check app permissions – Don’t allow unnecessary access like contacts or location
- Use strong security tools – Apps like Kaspersky Premium help detect and block threats
- Stay informed – Understand the risks behind online trends
- Monitor your accounts – Look for any suspicious activity
