LG Unveils Groundbreaking xDC Integrated Controller Platform for Vehicles at CES 2025

LG Electronics (LG), in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., has introduced the innovative Cross Domain Controller (xDC) platform for vehicles during CES 2025. Powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Ride™ Flex System-on-Chip (SoC), the xDC platform represents a significant leap forward in vehicle technology, integrating LG’s In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) into a single controller. This next-generation solution is designed to redefine vehicle performance, enhance safety, and elevate the mobility experience.

The Need for a Centralized Vehicle Solution

As modern vehicles grow increasingly complex, the demand for a central computer capable of managing diverse functionalities efficiently has become critical. LG’s xDC platform meets this demand with Qualcomm Technologies’ Flex SoC, a cutting-edge solution that combines ADAS, automated driving capabilities, and an open platform to support digital cockpits and IVI systems.

By leveraging this advanced technology, LG’s xDC platform processes data from IVI and ADAS systems simultaneously, significantly improving the overall driving experience. Beyond boosting efficiency, the single-SoC design reduces component costs while providing “ADAS confidence view,” a proactive assistance feature that merges 3D and 2D graphics to help drivers stay focused on the road.

Enhanced Driver and Passenger Experience

The xDC platform enables seamless and intuitive access to a wide range of information via the vehicle’s main display. Key features include:

  • Critical ADAS Alerts: Notifications about lane departure, distance to the vehicle ahead, and real-time traffic conditions.
  • Navigation Support: Alternative routes based on current traffic data.
  • Lifestyle Enhancements: Suggestions like promotions from frequently visited stores, adding convenience and enjoyment to each journey.

This integrated system also supports multiple vehicle functions, such as navigation, safety features, and advanced driver assistance, making it a robust “all-in-one” solution.

Safety and Reliability at Its Core

LG’s xDC platform, developed through close collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, incorporates the Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC, which holds Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL)-D certification. This international safety standard ensures reliable support for critical in-vehicle operations, establishing xDC as a trusted solution for automakers seeking to simplify complex systems without compromising on performance.

Showcase at CES 2025

Both LG and Qualcomm Technologies will demonstrate the capabilities of the xDC platform at their private exhibits during CES 2025, running from January 7-10 in Las Vegas. As a pioneering solution for integrated IVI and ADAS systems, the xDC platform efficiently manages complex vehicle functions and is poised to play a pivotal role in the software-defined vehicle (SDV) era.

A Vision for the Future of Mobility

Looking forward, LG and Qualcomm Technologies aim to reinforce their leadership in the IVI and ADAS sectors by developing tailored solutions that meet the specific needs of automakers. Through the integration of components and optimized design, the companies plan to offer high-performance, competitive technologies that define the future of mobility.

Eun Seok-hyun, President of the LG Vehicle Solution Company, stated,
“The xDC platform, leveraging Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC, provides automakers with a flexible solution that simplifies complex systems while enhancing the driving experience. Our collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies sets a new industry benchmark, redefining the driving experience.”
